I guess I do have jet lag. After dinner yesterday (8-ish), I went to my room to study again for the placement exam and I ended up taking a nap until one!
Today was orientation and the placement exam. At 9:45, the exam began and I was unfortunate to find that I had forgotten a lot of the basics. Afterward, I met with tealy (whose host mom invited us for karaoke and kimono) and some others and we went to the far cafeteria for lunch at Lawsons. I had a great spread of おにぎり (3), テンプラ (shrimp, chicken, 野菜), and some spaghetti (go figure) for only 390円. 本当においしかった! Afterward, we had opening ceremony, いんかん ordering, and a campus tour. The tour was humbling as I could only understand about 40% of the tour. I got really sleepy as we went in and out of warm buildings and the cold weather. afterward, we had a パーテイ where we ate delicious food and talked with Japanese students. I met an American student (Violet) and we waited for her host father to meet her after until about 6:00. I was a little reassured as I was the translator between for her and the Japanese girls she was talking to when there was confusion.
When I got home, I started looking over my paperwork, but I found I was very sleepy and slept until the 留学生パーテイ at 9:00 pm. When よんじゅんさん came to get me, I was very disoriented. Even at the party, I was still out of it. It was very strange to be there but not fully conscious. The party was fun though and after the 23:00 curfew, I we continued to talk in the lobby and then went to りょうへいさんの room to talk (and drink). We got very loud, but it was a lot of fun. Next time, I will bring my camera.
P.S. 見冬さん used to have the same phone as me and another exchange student has it too.
After りょうへいの room, I went to Kelly’s room to play singstar. It was fun, but I probably would have liked hanging at りょうへいの better. I went to bed at 3:30 am and woke up at 8:00 am!
